Giving Back Through Golf

10 Year Celebration

Ecologel’s Sarah Spatola Volunteers For Ten Years at Arnold Palmer Invitational

In 2007, Sarah was introduced to the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard when she was a student at the University of Central Florida. Sarah was enrolled in a sports marketing class when Scott Wellington, Tournament Director at the time, visited as a guest speaker. As a former member of her high school golf team, Sarah was immediately interested in the opportunity to get involved. During the 2007 and 2008 tournaments Sarah spent the week of spring break as an intern in the tournament media center.  In 2009, she registered as an official volunteer. Now, ten years later, the tournament has become an annual part of her and her family’s lives.

“It’s an honor to be a part of Arnie’s tournament.” said Sarah. “I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Palmer before he passed away and was so impressed by his genuine compassion.”

Fundraiser for Hospitals

A portion of the proceeds from the tournament goes to the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation which supports Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. In 2015, a very pregnant Sarah, had to watch the tournament’s final round from home. Two days later she gave birth to her son Jack at the very hospital she’d been helping to support for the last several years.

“To have things come full circle like they have is such a beautiful thing.” Sarah says. ” I look forward to the tournament each year. It has provided a lot of great memories and lifelong friends.”

Like Arnold Palmer’s last book entitled A Life Well Played, we’re proud of Sarah and her continued dedication to supporting such a fantastic foundation.
